Description

The unique flavor of arbaroriza (rose geranium) gave the name to this liqueur. However verbena, lemon balm and roses are implicated mysteriously to complement the flavor. As a result, the combination of flowers and herbs give the flower aroma. In cooking it is able to refine cakes, creams, jams and desserts. Moreover verbena, lemon balm and roses have seductive qualities and beneficial effects on nerves and stress. They can be used also for stomach diseases.

The philosophy of the liqueur production is based on the exploitation of the fruits, without the addition of artificial aromatics. The raw materials are combined to create new unique compositions.

In the process only organic raw fruits and herbs are used, without the addition of artificial aromatics additives and preservatives.

In addition to that, herbs and fruits are hand picked one by one from the Asterousian Mountains and the nearby villages. After cleaned and washed they are placed with tsikoudia into stainless steel tanks. The fruits will remain in tsikoudia for several weeks and the alcohol will gain the substances colors and aromas of the raw materials. The addition of the syrup is followed in order to synthesize the liqueur. A natural liqueur should not be too sweet because the sugar covers the rich aroma of the fruits. The liqueur remains again for a long term period into those stainless steel tanks to tie the flavors and tastes. After filtered, the liqueur is being bottled.

A slight turbidity in such a natural product is expected and not in any case is a sign of lower quality.

Note: Maximum order for Cretan liqueur is two bottles for shipments to USA, Canada and countries with strict imported alcohol laws.

The producer

Dinapoja

Dinapoja liqueuers and syrups are made from Cretan tsikoudia, and natural ingredients flowers, fruits and herbs. Dinapoja's cottage industry started as a hobby. Katie Dinapoja's love for nature, fruits, herbs and flowers was the reason. Friends and neighbors offered the fruits from their gardens. Myrtles are growing on their gullies and the local mountains generously provide a big selection of aromatic herbs. Mrs Katie, being an organic farmer for many years, could not resist the colors, flavors and aromas of the Cretan land. So she started experimenting by collecting flowers, herbs and fruits, which she processed to offer in a glass.

In other words, she started making liqueurs, syrups, and in the meantime she flavored sugar and made it sweet, sometimes fragrant and sometimes spicy! Initially, for personal use. Later, to please her friends. However, the great acceptance of her preparations quickly nurtured the ambition of creating homemade products that did not exist in the market till then. Today Dinapoja products are available for all of you who are seeking for something different and special, a unique experience in the world of taste.
