Louiza ILIOSTASIO Cretan Herbs
Lemon Verbena (Louiza) is a small deciduous shrub 1-1.5 m high that is cultivated as an aromatic, ornamental and medicinal plant. The infusion of Louiza is known to help in multiple medical conditions like fever, indigestion, stomach and intestinal disorders, even in kidney stones due to its diuretic action.
In Latin America, it is also used to treat asthma, common colds, colics, diarrhea. There are several research publications on the properties of the verbena leaves which can be summed up as follows: soothing, relaxing, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.
The infusion is made with two teaspoons of dried leaves in hot water for 3-5 minutes.
