Malvasia of Crete is a white sweet wine made from varieties Plyto, Dafni, Vidiano and Vilana with Protected Geographical Indication Crete.

It is a transparent gold color and intense fruit notes (apricot, peach) with honey and vanilla overtones.

Malvasia of Crete is a premium quality sweet wine overflow for more than three centuries the markets of the East and the West during the period of Venetian domination in the Mediterranean (13th-17th c.). Trying to revive the tradition, Lyrarakis created a wine that thinks it is very close to authentic Cretan Malvasia using indigenous Cretan varieties.

The grapes of varieties Plyto, Dafni, Vidiano and Vilana and spread out in the sun for nine days for partial dehydration. The viscous juice yields a naturally sweet wine with excellent density aromas and flavors, which is aged for two years in oak barrels.

The propeer served temperature is at 8-10 ° C.

The Lyrarakis Winery has been producing high quality wines since 1966 with emphasis on rare Cretan grape varieties. The Lyrarakis family winery has revived ancient Cretan varieties, Dafni and Plyto and Melissaki.

Today, the management of the Lyrarakis Winery has passed to the second generation. The family vineyard covers an area of 140 hectares on calcareous gravelly soils and has an average altitude of 550 meters.

Surrounded by the idyllic setting of the vineyards and the Lassithi mountains the Lyrarakis winery offers the opportunity to visit their estate and enjoy nature and taste Lyrarakis wine varieties.
