Dittany or Dictamus is an endemic plant found in Crete and is consumed as an infusion. The name comes from the mountain Dikti where it used to be abundant.
Today, as in the past, dittany is used as a traditional medicine against all diseases, but also to maintain health. For the preparation of infusion, the dose is 3-7 grams of dried herb in 150 mL of water. The infusion acts as a tonic and stimulant of the nervous system.
